Lunch

“Izakaya Hakoya”

I ate a large serving of seafood bowl (Yen 1,200 yen+ Yen100) at “Izakaya Hakoya”, which is a 1-minute walk from Goryokaku Tower. “Large serving of seafood” is a large serving other than rice in a seafood bowl. “Izakaya Hakoya” is a popular restaurant that is visited by many local Hakodate citizens. I went to the store at 11:15 after visiting Goryokaku, but it was almost full. The store opens at 11:00.

As you can see in the photo, the seafood bowl at “Izakaya Hakoya” was a delicious seafood bowl with lots of ingredients. This is a restaurant that we would like everyone to visit when exploring Goryokaku. In addition, “Hakoya” seems to be also at Hakodate Airport.

居酒屋 ハコヤ

I decided to eat “Uni-Ikura-don (sea urchin salmon roe bowl)” which was planned to be eaten for lunch in the itinerary for breakfast the next day.

Dinner

Izakaya “Nebokke”

After enjoying the night view from Mt. Hakodate, I ate seafood at the izakaya “Nebokke”. Nebokke is an atka mackerel that settles on a reef without migrating. Since it does not migrate, it has a lot of fat and can be eaten very deliciously.

The izakaya “Nebokke” is the first restaurant in the world to offer Nebokke sashimi. When I visit Hakodate, I always eat at the izakaya “Nebokke” for Nebokke sashimi.

根ぼっけの刺身

Besides the Nebokke, the sashimi of shellfish (whelk shell, surf clams, scallops) was the best.

On the other hand, “Hokke no Kirikomi” and “Hokke no Chan-chan-yaki” were salty to me. “Hokke no Kirikomi” is a traditional food from the Hokkaido and Tohoku regions that is made by fermenting shredded atka mackerel in salt and rice jiuqu. “Chan-chan-yaki” is a local dish of Hokkaido. Salmon is often used for “chan-chan-yaki”, but various fish such as atka mackerel are used.

“Nemuro Hanamaru”

After the izakaya “Nebokke”, I went to “Kaiten Sushi Nemuro Hanamaru Kiralis Hakodate” in front of Hakodate Station. “Nemuro Hanamaru” is a very popular restaurant in Sapporo and Tokyo where you have to wait for more than an hour to eat, but in Hakodate there were few customers and there was no waiting time. It’s a little-known shop. The taste was the same as in Sapporo and Tokyo, and it was very delicious.

The sushi I ate at “Nemuro Hanamaru” was “Kurogarei (flatfish)”, “Aozoi (Jacopever)”, “Herring”, “Hokkai shrimp”, “Hanasaki Gani (blue king crab)”, and “yellowtail”. In particular, “Kurogarei (flatfish)”, “Hokkai shrimp”, and “Hanasaki Gani (blue king crab)” were excellent. By the way, “Aozoi” is a member of rockfish, and “Hanasaki Gani (blue king crab)” is a crab of the king crab family that is mainly caught around Hanasaki Port in Nemuro City.
