Table of contents
Introduction
Ishikawa Prefecture (5 types of seafood) was ranked 4th in the prefectures with the highest catches and types of seafood that will be in season in October.
In Ishikawa Prefecture, the following five types of fish and shellfish will be in season in October.
Fish
Spanish mackerel, semifasciatus, sailfin sandfish, atka mackerel
Other seafood
Japanese flying squid
Ishikawa Prefecture has the highest catch of “Nigisu (semifasciatus)” in Japan. When “semifasciatus” is written in Chinese characters, it becomes “similar sillago”, and it seems that it was named “semifasciatus” because it resembles “sillago”. However, it is a different strain of fish from “sillago”. “semifasciatus” is often sold as dried fish, but sashimi is also very delicious. When we go to Ishikawa prefecture, we may be able to eat sashimi “semifasciatus”.
PRIDE FISH
Japan Fisheries Cooperatives has selected “Spanish mackerel” (season: May-October), “Nodoguro (Blackthroat Seaperch) “ (season: September-December), “Amaebi (northern shrimp) “ (season: September-December) as “PRIDE FISH” in autumn in Ishikawa Prefecture.
Spanish mackerel is said to be a spring fish, as the name contains the letters spring. However, the grown Spanish mackerel that comes to Ishikawa prefecture around autumn is in a very delicious with plenty of fat. When we go to Ishikawa prefecture in autumn, we definitely want to eat it.
Nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch) was also selected as “PRIDE FISH” in Shimane prefecture. We would like to compare the blackthroat seaperch of Ishikawa and Shimane prefectures.
Northern shrimp reach the spawning season from September to December and increase in sweetness. Seasonal northern shrimp sashimi is really delicious.
