The Peak Villa Suite

As a keen traveler who has traveled domestically and internationally 200-300 times, the concept of The Peak Villa Suite Hokkaido as a ‘traveling as you live’ appeals to me (President Shinya Yamada).

The location of The Peak Villa Suite Hokkaido is very convenient. Because only 10 minutes by car from Asahikawa airport. Asahikawa City takes about 30-40 minutes by airport bus from Asahikawa Airport, and Sapporo Station takes about 40 minutes by JR Rapid Airport from New Chitose Airport.

Higashikawa town declared itself a ‘Town of Photography’ in 1985 and has promoted the creation of a ‘photogenic’ town where nature, culture, and people meet, such as by holding the ‘Photography Koshien’ in 1994 (and annually after that). ‘Photography Koshien’ is a National High School Photography Championship. Higashikawa town’s policy was long before the ‘Instagrammable (Insta-worthy)’ boom. Photography is a communication tool that makes it easy to interact with local people when traveling. Our company also encourages communication between foreign travelers and locals through photography.

Higashikawa Town has seen an increase in the number of people moving to the area from outside the town, with the population bottoming out at 6,973 in 1994 and continuing to increase to 8,382 in 2018, which is unusual among Japanese cities, towns, and villages. Higashikawa is also the most advanced cashless town in Japan, with the introduction of the Higashikawa Universal Card (HUC) in its shopping arcade.

In winter, Higashikawa is home to skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing on Daisetsuzan Asahidake (2,291 m: the highest peak in Hokkaido), and in summer, mountain climbing, trekking, cycling, kayaking, SUP, fishing, and rafting on Lake Chubetsu. The area is also home to wineries such as Yukikawa Brewery.

A map shows that Higashikawa is located almost in the center of Hokkaido. Furano and Biei (popular with tourists) and Asahikawa, Hokkaido’s second-largest city (home to Asahiyama Zoo and other tourist attractions), are within easy day-trip distance. Why not stay at The Peak Villa Suite Hokkaido in Higashikawa-cho as a base for a different kind of stay-and-go Hokkaido tourism?

Note that the owners, Maki Sadai (President) and Yoshinori Sadai (COO), are a wonderful couple who have both published books. They both have long overseas business experience and are fine speaking English. For foreign travelers, a place to stay where there are no language problems at all is the most reassuring aspect.
