1.Introduction

Ishikawa Prefecture (6 types of seafood) was ranked 5th in the prefectures with the highest catches and types of seafood that will be in season in December.

In Ishikawa Prefecture, the following six types of fish and shellfish will be in season in December.

Japan Fisheries Cooperatives has selected “Codfish” (season: November-February) and “Natural Noto Japanese amberjack” (season: December-February). “Kano crab” (season: November-March) as Ishikawa Prefecture’s winter “PRIDE FISH“.

We can eat autumn “PRIDE FISH” “Blackthroat seaperch” (season: September-December) and “Northern shrimp” (season: September-December) when visiting Ishikawa prefecture in December.  It is worth considering visiting Ishikawa Prefecture in December to eat delicious fish and shellfish.

In Ishikawa Prefecture, two types of cod, Pacific cod and Alaska pollack, are caught. “cod soft roe in vinegar” and “roe of cod sashimi” are local dishes of Ishikawa prefecture.

Japanese amberjack sushi

In Ishikawa Prefecture, the Japanese amberjack that weighs more than 7 kg is called “Natural Noto Japanese amberjack” and is branded. The fat content is more than 30%, which makes it plump and delicious.

“Kano crab” is a male snow crab of 9 cm or more. Only those fishermen who are confident in their quality can be named “Kano crab”. “Kano crab” is named after the initials of Kaga and Noto. We feel the spirit of encouraging Ishikawa Prefecture as a whole from Kaga to Noto.
