UPOPOY

UPOPOY

“Upopoy” means “singing together in a large group” in the Ainu language. It is a facility for learning about the culture of the Ainu people, who are the indigenous people of Hokkaido. You can also enjoy Ainu songs, dances, and musical instrument performances.

We plan to use NINJA KOTAN as our service name. Kotan means village by the Ainu language. We plan to use the Ainu language because we sympathize with the Ainu people as a symbol of diversity in Japan and the idea of coexistence with nature of the Ainu people. I love all the Ainu costumes, songs, dances and instrumental tones. Please visit “Upopoy” by all means.

4. JR Tower Observatory T38

From the skyscrapers of JR Sapporo Station, we can see the night view of Sapporo. Meals can be a bit hectic, but if we eat around Sapporo Station, we’ll be in time for the final admission at 19:30. (There is a shortening of business hours due to the state of emergency, the last admission for normal business is 21:30)

Sapporo night view

Admission is on the 6th floor of JR Tower East. Take the Center Elevator II (next to Starbucks) at Sapporo Stellar Place to the 6th floor.

Admission fee: Adults Yen 740, junior high and high school students Yen 520, elementary school students and toddlers (4 years old and over) Yen 320. Admission is free for those who have a birthday on the day.

There is a view restroom with the concept of “occupying an overwhelming sense of liberation”. Designed by Junko Kobayashi, a leading Japanese toilet architect.

sapporo night view

I thought about including the night view from the summit of Mt. Moiwa in the itinerary, but it will be quite difficult in terms of time.

Sapporo Moiwayama Ropeway is shortening its business hours from August 27th to September 30th, 2021, and the final climb of the ropeway to the summit is 19:30 (usually summer: 21:30 is the final in April-November). .

If you want to eat “Ishikari Nabe” around Sapporo Station, depart from Sapporo Station at 18:53, arrive at Odori Station on the Namboku Subway Line at 18:54, arrive at Nishi 4-chome Station at 19:00, and arrive at Sapporo Streetcar Inner Ropeway Iriguchi Station at 19:18. It is possible to get on the final ropeway by a route such as 7 minutes on foot, but the dinner time will be very short, less than 1 hour. I think it’s better to give up the night view during the “state of emergency”.

Therefore, we suggest that you go to the summit of Mt. Moiwa the next day while the business hours are shortened.

night view from Mt. Moiwa

The night view from Okurayama Jump Stadium is also attractive, but since the entire facility is closed from August 28th to September 30th, you cannot go during the holiday period.
