Shimane Prefecture (7 types of seafood) ranked third among the prefectures with the highest catches and types of seafood that will be in season in December.

In Shimane Prefecture, the following seven types of fish and shellfish will be in season in December.

conger eel, monkfish, eel, flounder, Spanish mackerel, Japanese amberjack, gurnard

A wide variety of fish can be caught in Shimane Prefecture. This is because a good fishing ground is formed at the boundary between the warm Tsushima Current and the Japan Sea endemic water (“Shimane Cold Water Area” and “Sanin Wakasa Cold Water”). Therefore, it is possible to catch a wide variety of fish and shellfish, from warm-water fish to cold-water fish.
