(Saturday, October 23)
Table of contents
1. Comparison of local sake “Mikuni Minatoza”
3. Craft beer “Echizen Fukui Roman Beer”
4. Dinner “Marusanya Fukui Katamachi”
1. Comparison of local sake “Mikuni Minatoza”
After visiting the former Morita Bank head office, I tried to compare local sake from Fukui prefecture at the nearby “Mikuni Minatoza”. “Mikuni Minatoza” is a hamburger shop, but it is also a strange shop that also offers sake.
The hamburger of “Mikuni Minatoza” is highly evaluated. “Mikuni Burger”, which is a local gourmet, contains pickled scallions instead of pickles.
The sakes I drank and compared were “Jozan” , “Kita no Sho” and “Hakuryu“. All were delicious sake.
2. Lunch “Amidasoba Fukunoi”
I returned to Fukui Station from Mikuni Station and had lunch at “Amidasoba Fukunoi” on the first floor of the building “Happiring” next to Fukui Station. I ordered Echizen oroshi soba (Yen 693), 2 pieces of Yakisaba sushi (grilled mackerel sushi) (Yen 440 ), and Kodai-no-sasazuke (Yen 440).
Echizen oroshi soba from “Amidasoba Fukunoi” is a type of oroshi soba with grated radish in noodle soup. I prefer the type of grated soba with grated radish on the side, but the oroshi soba at this soba restaurant was very delicious. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has selected Echizen oroshi soba as one of the “100 Best Local Cuisine” in Fukui Prefecture.
Yakisaba sushi, which was born in Fukui prefecture, is famous all over the country. “Echizen Mikuni Minatoya” in Mikuni Town, where the former Morita Bank head office is located, has completed Yakisaba sushi. It’s a combination because they like Hama-yaki mackerel and sushi. I also love Yakisaba sushi. The Yakisaba sushi of “Amidasoba Fukunoi” was made from thick mackerel with fat and was very delicious.
Sasa-zuke of Kodai is a specialty of Obama City, Fukui Prefecture. Sasa-zuke of Kodai is made by cutting yellowback seabream into three pieces, making it lightly salted, soaking it in vinegar, and then packing it in barrels. The degree of pickling in vinegar was just right, and it was a thick and delicious Kodai-no-sasazuke.
3. Craft beer “Echizen Fukui Roman Beer”
After going to Daianzenji Temple, I drank the craft beer “Echizen Fukui Roman Beer” at “Koshi no Iso”. Koshi no Iso is a brewer of local sake and craft beer. There is a table and chairs that can seat two people in one corner of the store, where we can drink craft beer. There are also unusual beers such as miso beer. I drank 3 kinds of beer, but I was very satisfied with the very delicious craft beer.
Koshi no Iso is a 3-minute walk from Nikkakagaku-mae Station on the Echizen Railway.
4. Dinner “Marusanya Fukui Katamachi”
After visiting Yokokan Garden and Sakaenoyashiro, I had dinner at “Marusanya Fukui Katamachi”. I chose “Marusanya Fukui Katamachi” because I wanted to eat Hama-yaki mackerel, which is a typical local food in Fukui prefecture. I was asked to look for it at the tourist information center, but I couldn’t find a izakaya where I could eat Hama-yaki mackerel, so I finally found “Marusanya Fukui Katamachi” as a restaurant that offers Hama-yaki mackerel.
The sashimi platter and the Hama-yaki mackerel I ordered on that day were very delicious. In particular, the Hama-yaki mackerel was fatty and delicious enough to be eaten as much as you want. However, the problem was that the Hama-yaki mackerel was served almost at the same time, even though I asked for it to be served later than the assorted sashimi serving. After eating the fatty Hama-yaki mackerel, the taste of sashimi fish disappeared. Both were delicious, but I was very disappointed. Be careful when ordering.
5. Dinner “Tegaru Soba”
After “Marusanya Fukui Katamachi”, I had oroshi soba (Yen 700) at “Tegaru Soba” nearby.
The restaurant is like standing eating soba, but the oroshi soba was so delicious that I thought it was the most delicious during this trip to Fukui. I like spicy grated daikon radish for oroshi soba. The spiciness of “Tegaru Soba” was as spicy as I wanted. “Tegaru Soba” is open from 8 pm to 3 am. There are few soba restaurants that offer oroshi soba until midnight, so it can be said to be a very valuable soba restaurant.
