1. Oh, I want to travel abroad!
Traveling, especially overseas travel had always been a hobby of mine, and I had enjoyed traveling abroad every year since I was a student and even after I got married.
However, I always had the thought in the back of my mind, “If I have children, I will not be able to travel abroad as often as I would like.
In fact, for several years after the birth of my child, I gave up on the idea of traveling abroad. But in my heart, the desire to travel abroad was simmering.
Oh, I want to go, I want to travel. I want to go abroad.
Finally, I reached the end of my patience and took on the challenge of traveling abroad with my child.
The destination was Italy, which my husband and I love and have visited many times before.
We decided to go on a free tour because a time-limited tour is a bit difficult with a child.
We were not sure if he would suddenly say, “I need to go to the restroom! “I was not sure what to do if he suddenly asked to go to the restroom.
2. What is this? This amount of luggage!
When we finally departed, the plane ride, which I had worried about, was not so bad.
There was a good video program with cartoons, etc., and they slept about half the time.
However, the biggest problem I had on this trip was, yes, “too much luggage”.
Generally speaking, even when traveling domestically, the amount of luggage for those traveling with children is not half as large as it should be.
Starting with diapers, a change of clothes, towels, and even a stroller and baby carrier. Toys and picture books to keep them occupied are also essential.
If your child still needs milk or baby food, the amount and weight are unimaginable.
Both hands are full of luggage and a dangling child.
Little kids are so quick to say they’re tired and beg for a piggyback ride or a cuddle.
Oh, God. I can’t do it.
No matter how many hands I have, it’s not enough. It’s so heavy, that I feel like my arms are going to tear off.
3. Wish we could rent locally.
At such times, if we could borrow what we need locally, we would be so happy.
What if a stroller, which is heavy and takes up a lot of space, was available at the hotel the day you arrived?
And then there are necessities such as diapers and wipes. Even if you try to procure them locally, the sizes and manufacturers are different from those in Japan. What if you could find out in advance and have the hotel bring just the right items?
And then there are clothes. Children spill food all over the place and their clothes are always sticky. They sit on the ground everywhere. How many clothes should I bring? I am tired of doing laundry every night when I am traveling, and I am tired of the amount of laundry I have to do after returning to Japan.
In such cases, it would be a great help if you could rent clothes locally. Of course, you can return them without washing them.
Such travel without being swamped by luggage is becoming a reality with the use of local rentals.
International travel for the child-rearing generation.
From now on, it will be much easier to go there.
We asked Tomoko san to write about her overseas travel experience on CrowdWorks, and we would like to thank her very much. Our company aims to be the “Future travel” through our travel rental business so that people with children like Tomoko san can easily travel abroad.
