1.Introduction

Introducing the fish and shellfish that will be in season in September, divided into the whole of Japan and the top three prefectures. The season of fish and shellfish may vary depending on the region and year due to climate change, so please consider it as reference data only.

The number of fish and shellfish that will be in season in September is 22 of the 87 species surveyed, which is the smallest in a year.

The following is a list of 22 types of fish and shellfish in no particular order.

Nagasaki and Hokkaido (7 types of seafood) were ranked first, and Iwate and Miyagi prefectures (6 types) were ranked third in the prefectures with the highest catches and types of seafood that will be in season in September.

Nagasaki Prefecture ranked first for three consecutive months. The 4th place is Aomori prefecture, Shizuoka prefecture, Hyogo prefecture, Ehime prefecture, Kochi prefecture (4 types).

In September, salmon and pacific saury, which are representative of the taste of autumn, were newly introduced as seasonal seafood. In both cases, Hokkaido has the highest catch. I personally love both salmon and pacific saury, but it’s a shame that the pacific saury has been unfished in recent years.
